Charles

Hi! I'm Charles.

My background is in systems, platform engineering, and technical operations. I've spent most of my career in roles where reliability matters and where the job is to make things work.

That's also how I approach building products.

Most of the stuff on this site started because of a problem in my own life. I tend to build things when I want a better way to do something. That goes back a while. I even have a patent for a pizza pan I designed because I wanted a better solution for reheating leftover slices of pizza.

That same pattern shows up in the software here too. JuggleVision started because I wanted a way to count my daughter's soccer juggling. Filwiz came from my 3D printing hobby and wanting a simpler way to turn filament specs into useful slicer settings.

I'm not someone who fits neatly into one category. My background is in systems and reliability, but I also like product ideas, workflow problems, and building useful things. I like taking a real problem, thinking it through, and making something that helps.

Before all of this, I served as a Signal Officer in the Army. I went to West Point, studied Information Systems Engineering, and later earned a master's in Telecommunications and Network Management from Syracuse. That background shaped a lot of how I work and how I think.

This site is basically a collection of projects that came out of that mindset. It's a work in progress.

Thanks for stopping by!
